Digital Dumbo was a four-day festival held in September 2001, which was devoted to showcasing new digital art. I presented four new installation pieces at Brooklyn's Mastel + Mastel gallery.

Sculpture #37

In "C505 #37," a 4 1/2-inch LCD screen is suspended by springs within a rough wooden frame, which is mounted on a tripod. A plastic magnifying glass enlarges and distorts the screen, which features video footage of closed-captioned text.

Audio Cube

"Audio Cube" is a listening space constructed from stacked cardboard bales. Inside, two shortwave radios tuned to different stations play live and are processed through an effects box. The audio plays through a series of speakers embedded in the structure's walls.

404031

"404031" is a 60-minute digital audio/video piece that fits animated graphics layered on video and TV footage to a 60-minute original audio track. The video is composed of 12 five-minute segments designed by a collection of artists that respond in different ways to the underlying audio track.

Stygian Eye

"Stygian Eye" comprises a clear plastic ball, a compact disc and an LCD screen taken from a handheld TV. As the viewer approaches the object and peers into the ball, video showing an animation of a scientific study of a flying horse glows from the below screen.
